MUSIC HISTORY

hello!! this is where i'll be discussing parts of music history that i find fascinating! i hope you enjoy!

the classical era...

while many people don't appreciate classical music, it's important to recognize the roots of modern-day music! for example...the 'Baroque' period of music introduced what is known as a concerto--which is a composition for instruments in which a solo instrument is set off against an orchestral ensemble--which is still used in music today. The 'Romantic' period brought the symphony into development, which will later influence modern rock!
Perhaps the greatest contributions classical music offered was the use of orchestration. Classical composers at the time were masters of instrumentation and the use of different instruments to produce changing sounds and emotions within the music. Orchestration was later adapted by modern musicians as instrumentation took on a more dynamic and complex sound. Classical music also introduced the hook--or the melody--which is the part that gets stuck in your head. This concept, which was first introduced in the Baroque era is still used today. And finally, classical music introduced the use of dynamics, which is the rise and fall of volume within a piece of music!
